MotoGP, Rossi after FP3: "I still have to progress to keep up with the best"

"My lap wasn't bad, but there's margine in some areas." Vinales: "I was fast, but I think I can improve for qualifying."

MotoGP: Rossi after FP3:

Valentino Rossi's first goal, after yesterday's good performance, was to enter the Q1 directly for the Andalusian Grand Prix. He did it, thanks to an 8th time, just over 4 tenths of a second from his teammate, Vinales.

But it's still an uphill climb, as the Doctor explained at the end of the FP3 in Jerez.

It was very important to stay in the top 10, because we're all very close in time, but I'm there," Valentino said. "My lap was not that bad. We still need to improve in some areas, and in the overall pace, to be able to fight at the top. We'll see how it'll go this afternoon with higher temperatures."

For Maverick Vinales, however, everything went perfectly well, and Quartararo, last Sunday's winner, also managed to keep up.

I think we had a good run," the Spanish rider commented. "We tried something on the suspensions, and I liked it. I think the job was done correctly. Then, during the time attack, I felt really good. I think I had a very good lap, and I think I can do even better in qualifying. So, overall, the feelings are very positive. Now we'll focus on the race pace in the FP4. We have a good opportunity to be fast and consistent, so I'll try to be as fluid as possible. We'll try everything in the FP4, and then we'll concentrate on the Q2 to be in the front row."
