MotoGP, Morbidelli: "Marc is risking, but to win the title he must do that"

"It is a courageous move, there is no doubt. I am not worried about facing him on the track, he is the injured one, not me. I want to work on the details to aim for the podium, I have great confidence in my means"

MotoGP: Morbidelli:

If there is one rider ready to take advantage of the second round in a row at Jerez, that is probably Franco Morbidelli. In fact, the Petronas team man has proved to be very fast on the Andalusian track, and he can target the podium that he missed out on less than seven days ago, a podium that his teammate Quartararo was able to top.

“I am very excited for the weekend - Franco said - given that on Sunday I was quick and able to fight for the podium. The goal is to replicate or improve what we did last weekend, especially regarding qualifying. During the week I rested and enjoyed the weather here, despite the great heat: I had another look back at the race on Sunday, and I found some small strategy errors that I will try not to repeat ".

Between Franco and the podium however there could be another rider – Marc Marquez, whose return is certainly the subject of the weekend.

“Marc is certainly taking a risk, but to win the title you have to do things like that as well. For me it is not a concern that he goes out on the track, it might be for him: I am aware that I might have to deal with an injured rider, but since I am not in that situation, I don't think I have to worry about it. It is a courageous move, there is no doubt about that".

Another "new feature" of the weekend will concern safety, with a new rule regarding the yellow flags during practice sessions.

"From this weekend we will have to slow down even in the case of a single yellow flag, not only in the case of a double flag, otherwise there will be penalties: I agree with the decision as it increases safety. We discussed it today within the Safety Commission, and as said it is a decision that I agree with. "

In conclusion Franco focussed on what he has to do during the weekend, to fine-tune the last details in view of the race.

“I have to work on the details, for example when braking, which is one of the areas where we have to work more in view of the last race. Maybe the fact that I raced in a group didn't help me in this sense, but I'll try to work on this aspect anyway ”.
