MotoGP, Valentino Rossi, 'For Your Eyes Only' (i.e. TV) signs renewal deal in Jerez

Behind closed doors but with the cameras rolling, as we wrote in recent days, probably the announcement of the (predictable) renewal of the Phenom with the Petronas-Yamaha team

MotoGP: Valentino Rossi, 'For Your Eyes Only' (i.e. TV) signs renewal deal in Jerez

Last Friday, July 3, we wrote: A Voice amidst the Silence, but this was immediately denied by everyone: oh come on, do you think Vale will make the announcement without journalists present and with only TVs?

Now it seems that it is the case, that Valentino's gift at the restart of the World Championship is an announcement that is not shocking at all, given that he had anticipated it himself months ago, right after the start of the lockdown.

"I don’t like to stop like this, without racing - Vale said - My plan this year was to change something in the team (David Muñoz the new chief engineer from the Sky team had arrived instead of Silvano Galbusera) and wait for the summer to understand my level of competitiveness compared to 2019, but I will have to decide without being able to race, seeing if inside me I have any reasons to continue: if I go to Petronas, however I will not do it just to turn up and say 'hello' to the fans " .

So everything as expected: two-year contract, or rather 1+1, to play the part of Highlander of MotoGP, given that with 402 GP races, our man from Tavullia can now continue to pursue the dream of winning a 10th world title and overhaul the 122 victories of Giacomo Agostini from being seven down.

But maybe he will be happy just to score a podium that he has missed out on now for 16 races, or the victory that has eluded him for 47 Grands Prix, to be precise from the Dutch GP, in Assen, in 2017.

A long time has passed, a lot of traffic lights have gone out before his very eyes, but he is always there. As we said in recent days, about Fernando Alonso's return to F1, only one will remain. Or maybe two…
