MotoGP, Poncharal: "Pol Espargarò is sure he can challenge Marquez in Honda"

"He says he's in the best moment of his career, and he knows Marc well. They both have an aggressive riding style. It'll be interesting."

MotoGP: Poncharal:

Hervé Poncharal, owner of the Tech3 team, knows Pol Espargarò well. The Spanish rider debuted in the MotoGP with his team, before they both switched to KTM. The French manager has always had a lot of respect for him, and his opinion has not changed now that he's chosen a very difficult path: trying to beat Marquez on the same bike, Honda.

"Pol is sure he can challenge Marc," Hervé assured crash.net.

Even his riding style could suit the bizarre RC213V well.

"It wasn't easy with the Yamaha because he's an aggressive rider, and the M1 must be ridden very gently," Poncharal stated. " I think he learned a lot, and I was very happy to see him take the leading role as an official rider when he got into KTM."

Now the new challenge, probably the most difficult in the Spanish rider's career.

"It'll be interesting to see him on the Honda," the manager added. "I don't want to say that it's a motorcycle similar to the KTM, but it's close enough in characteristics and riding style to adopt."

The question is whether he'll succeed where all of Marquez's previous teammates have failed.

I know that Pol started racing with Marc at a very young age, so he knows him very well, and they pushed each other up to the MotoGP. We all remember their battles in the Moto2," Poncharal continued. "These two guys have a story in common, a career in common, and now we'll see them on the same bike, in the same team, each with a similar aggressive style. Pol tells us he's in the best moment of his career in terms of riding, form and strength. I know Marc is number one at the moment, but Pol is sure he can challenge him."
