MotoGP: Dovizioso's racing again: first cross race on June 28th

The abstinence from motorcycles has had an effect on every rider and, even now that training has resumed, the adrenaline of the race is only a memory... for most everyone, except for Andrea Dovizioso, who will soon be able to relish that emotion of being on the starting grid again.

In fact, Dovi managed to obtain the go-ahead from Ducati to participate in the Emilia Romagna regional motocross championship in Faenza. The appointment is for June 28th, twenty days before the start scheduled for the MotoGP Championship.

There's really nothing new in seeing a sprinter race and jump in the mud, but these competitions are usually reserved for winter, while the season is now over, and they are specifically prohibited by contracts when close to or during the Championship.

Given the very particular situation, Ducati has decided to make an exception this time and trust Andrea, despite the fact that a cross race may present too much of a risk.

"Andrea has a strong desire to start racing, and that's why we gave him permission to race in the regional cross championship ," Paolo Ciabatti confirmed. "Normally, we would not have, but I certainly think this race will allow him to experience that adrenaline he misses."

This permission to race can also be seen as an important sign in the negotiations between Ducati and Dovizioso for the renewal of his contract, that's expiring at the end of the year. A sign of trust towards Andrea, which is also important in relations around the negotiating table.

Cross is Dovi's great passion. He's never made a secret of wanting to engage in this sport when he'll say goodbye to the MotoGP. This time he won't have to. In just a few weeks, he'll be able to experience the adrenaline of a race again.
