Never say never again, said James Bond and that also seems to be the case with Jorge Lorenzo. The Majorcan officially said goodbye to racing at the end of last year but staying away from MotoGP is beginning to make itself be felt. First he accepted the role of test rider with Yamaha, then the possibility of doing (at least) one wild-card, at Barcelona, without forgetting the fact that  he had already made enquiries in the Petronas team at the Sepang tests to see if there was any chance of a full-time return to the M1 in 2021.

This will not be the case, but Jorge has again returned to the subject…

"No one has called me to ask me - he said - If it doesn’t happen, I will be happy anyway".

But what if the phone rings?

“I would certainly listen to what they have to say - Lorenzo explained - If a possibility of returning went through my mind, I would certainly consider it but only if I could try to win. If it was clear I had a chance of winning the championship. For the moment I’m fine and I don’t think it will happen. "

In other words, Jorge has found a balance in the role of tester, even though he misses some aspects of the racing life…

"I have found a good compromise and I’m enjoying life - he continued - Mentally I don't need to go racing again and feel that pressure again. Even if I’m missing the sensations of when you win a race or a championship, they are something incredible, it is difficult to find them in anything else ".

Lorenzo has not completely closed the door on a return to racing; it just remains to be seen if anyone decides to knock…
