Moto3: Migno: "It's a crucial year for me, I can't make any mistakes. Ever."

On Friday, in Qatar, Andrea Migno will start his sixth complete season in Moto3, and he will do it in a team he knows well and which he had left at the end of 2017. The rider from Romagna will once again wear the colours of the Sky VR46 team which has renewed its belief in him. The main aim is to reward them for their trust and finally manage to race an entire season as a key protagonist.

In these years in Moto3, Andrea has stepped onto the podium 6 times, won a race but has never managed to be consistent from start to finish. The time has come to do it, and he is the first to be aware of it.

Andrea, you left the Sky VR46 team, when they asked you to come back, did you have any doubts?

“None, because the team wanted me, I knew everyone would be happy if I accepted. I put a lot of importance on people and knowing that they welcomed me warmly into the team can only be good."

Do you feel you also have all the spotlights on you?

“That's for sure, but it would have been the same in any team. It will be an important year for me, and it is right that the expectations are all for me. It is a crucial year, decisive for my career".

Are you fully aware of this?

"Of course, sport is made of results and if they come, then I can think of going forward, maybe staying with Sky and moving to Moto2. If I were to go wrong, however, it would complicate everything, I don't even want to think about it ".

What has been missing in recent years to make the decisive step forward?

“I’ve learnt to take responsibility first and foremost and everyone, logically the rider, bike and team go hand in hand and sometimes I was missing the fact that all the pieces fit together. Sometimes I was lacking continuity, and this made things worse, I was unable to make a complete season at a good level."

Does returning to a team you already know and where they already know you offer you stability?

"Yes, but in the end the only one who can make the difference will always be me. I can go to any team, but the important thing is to have the right attitude to be competitive in every race. I can't afford to make any mistakes. Ever".

How do you see this season?

"The usual Moto3 with many strong riders and the best will be seen from the start, as it was last year with Dalla Porta, Canet and Arbolino. I think there will be at least 12 riders who will fight in all the races to get on the podium, so you will have to fight armed to the teeth to emerge ".
