MotoGP, Rossi: "2020 begins on Monday for me and Yamaha"

The Brno test brings the new M1 "but first I need a good result". Vinales: "we're on the right path and I want to confirm that"

Valentino used the holidays to recharge his batteries and take a break following some disappointing recent results. Maverick is meanwhile riding a wave of positive results at Assen and the Sachsenring. Both will be back in the garage at Brno with the same goal: to continue to improve.

Rossi faces the toughest path, because he's struggling to find the right synergy with the M1. Brno might help him, the track where he scored his first world championship win, in 125 in 1996. More than twenty years ago, but the Doctor has always done well in the Czech Republic, reaching the podium 14 times and winning 7 races, the last in 2009.

During this summer break it was important to take some time off after the first part of the season and rest a bit. But now I can't wait to be back on track, back aboard my M1, and concentrate on this second part."

Which will be particularly important for various reasons, not least in preparing for next season. The post-race test will see the first appearance of the 2020 M1 in fact.

“We will have two consecutive GPs where it will be necessary to work well and get the best possible results. It will be an important second half of the season because we need to improve, and we'll also begin preparing for 2020, starting with Monday's test."

But first, he needs to focus on the race.

"Brno is a track that I've always liked. I want to work well with my team to make it a nice weekend. We need a good result, so we'll do our best” he confirms

Vinales: “I can show my full potential at Brno and the Red Bull Ring"

It's quite another story for Vinales, galvanised by his recent win and the podium in Germany. Now that the Spaniard is on the right path, he doesn't want to stray from it.

"I'm starting the second part of the championship in a very positive mood. After the victory in Assen and the second place at Sachsenring we went on holiday feeling very happy, with the conviction that we‘re on the right track and with the peace of mind that you get after a job well done. "

Maverick is not resting on his laurels though.

"I have been able to rest a little bit during the summer break, but it was also helpful to complete a lot of training in order to arrive at this GP feeling physically and mentally strong. The next two rounds are held at two tracks that I like a lot but where we‘ll have to work hard to obtain positive results. I think that I can show all my potential there and confirm that we are working in the right direction. Brno is one of my favourite circuits, so I‘ll give it my 100% to continue improving step by step.”
