A productive test day for Jorge Lorenzo on Monday, the rider able to test the latest evolution of Ducati frame that Dovizioso has been using since the Assen GP.

I still hadn't had chance to test it and this test was ideal for that. I found many positives, more pros than cons, and in the end I like it. I would need confirmation at other tracks though, so I'll use it during the Austrian GP”.

The Red Bull Ring is a track designed for the Ducati, even though Dovizioso has said that things might be different this time around.

Our rivals have improved their engines, especially Honda - agreesJorge - They'll definitely be closer than they were two years ago”.

Ducati has nevertheless shown that it can fight on equal terms with Marquez, but will it be able to do so until the end of the season?

At the Saschsenring we weren't able, Honda was superior. Of the next tracks, Phillip Island is probably the track where we'll have most trouble, though I hope less than we have in the past. In normal conditions I think we can always fight with Marc, the level is similar, but the tracks will make the difference”.

But Marquez has proved he can manage things even at tracks at which he suffers.

He has more experience, he's realised that at times it's better to score points. I think that 5 years ago, in a race like yesterday's, he'd have tried at the last corner”, muses Jorge.

Lorenzo is ready for battle, now that his confidence with the Ducati has improved.

Unfortunately I'll never be 100% with the Ducati, it would take time to have a bike that allows for greater speed through the turns, but we only have 9 races left. I need to exploit acceleration and braking, the strengths of this bike”.

Jorge brakes a lot harder on board the red bike.

“The Ducati's stability allows you to do it, with the Yamaha it wasn't possible. I'm almost obliged to use the rear brake during braking, a new skill that will be useful to me in the future too”.
