Danilo Petrucci dreamed of contending for the podium in Brno, but instead he had to console himself with a fifth place finish behind Cal Crutchlow. It was a performance that in any case gives the Italian rider confidence and shows him the glass half full.
“I wanted to battle for the top five and in the first part of the race, the podium was definitely within reach - the Pramac said - In fact, I was able to be fast, but I struggled in acceleration since I was losing too much, about a tenth per lap.”
Anyway, there is an encouraging aspect.
“I am happy anyway, since I did not make any mistakes in the race or do a sloppy ride, demonstrating good competitiveness. It was just a pity about the finale, since Dovi, Marc and Jorge showed that they had an entirely different pace.”
Now thoughts are on the Austrian round, just seven days away.
“Ducati did a great job this weekend and in Austria they know that they can rely on great potential. That is not valid for me, since I have a lot to learn, but I am arriving with morale high.”
Jack Miller, on the other hand, did not make it into the top ten, only twelfth across the line with a gap of more than sixteen seconds behind the winner.
“I am rather disappointed about the performance – the Australian said – When I overtook Morbidelli, I managed to find the pace, but then I had to deal with sudden tyre deterioration. With the rear, I struggled a lot and was losing about six tenths per lap.”
