It is an eighth place that leaves a bit of regret in Danilo Petrucci’s expression since the Italian was aiming to stay with the best at Montmelò. Instead, the tyres played a cruel trick on the Pramac rider. Until the tenth lap, he was in the battle for a top five position, then losing ground, unable to close the gap after that.”
“Honestly, I expected to finish in the top five and bring home a good result – Petrucci began – I really felt good in the early stages of the race. In fact, I was able to ride very smoothly. Unfortunately, then I began to have various difficulties braking, even losing the front on three different occasions.”
Danilo goes into more detail.
“I was battling with Dani, but I could no longer brake as hard as I wanted to since I was struggling a lot with the sudden rise in temperature at the front. The temperature was really high and I had some problems. In fact, Zarco and Viñales overtook me and I wasn’t able to catch them again.”
So, Petrucci is looking forward.
“Obviously, I cannot be happy about this result, but I am third in the overall standings and my Ducati is the best in the Championship – he reminded – Today Lorenzo was incredibly fast, but I am waiting for Assen, which is a track where there are no abrupt braking sections. In 2016 I rode a great race there and last year I even came close to the win.”
