The Superbikes are back in action at Brno after a six-year wait and there's something new awaiting teams and riders. As reported by our colleague Ivo Schützbach in online publication Speedweek, Dorna is providing extra support to those teams most in difficulty during the first part of the season, or rather Honda, MV Agusta and BMW. The organiser is allowing those teams to exploit an extra 250 revs, for a total of 14,950.
Here below is a list of the engine rev limits for each team up until Donington and following the modification at Brno.
Engine revs up until Donington
Aprilia 14,700
BMW 14,700
MV Agusta 14,700
Yamaha 14,700
Suzuki 14,700
Honda 14,300
Kawasaki 14,100
Ducati 12,400
Engine revs as of Brno
BMW 14,950
MV Agusta 14,950
Aprilia 14,700
Yamaha 14,700
Suzuki 14,700
Honda 14,550
Kawasaki 14,100
Ducati Twin 12,400
Dorna's Superbike technical director Scott Smart had this to say: “We have decided to offer 250 extra revs to Honda, BMW and MV Agusta because we believe that it is sensible to allow those teams in difficult to be able to count on greater speed, rather than further penalise eams like Kawasaki, Yamaha and Ducati that have obtained better results on the first part of the championship”.
