The performance of Johann Zarco is becoming no small puzzler for Valentino Rossi and Maverick Viñales. Indeed, because while the factory M1 machines struggle, the Frenchman’s bike shows that it has a little something extra, so much to take the third spot on the grid in the Jerez qualifiers.

“From yesterday I felt competitive – the Tech 3 rider began – Unfortunately, I had some problems in FP4 because of the asphalt temperature, but in qualifying things went differently. With the medium, I gave it my all and I managed to find a new limit with this M1.”

Johann has some clear ideas about the goals to achieve.

I’ll start thinking about the podium – he warned – I think it is only right to have a go after what was seen on Saturday and Friday. The Hondas will most likely have the same goal and I am sure that they’ll be competitive, both with Dani and Marc.”

There is an aspect that makes the Tech3 rider anxious.

“This afternoon we saw that with the rise in temperature we lose in terms of grip – he analysed – The bike is still competitive on the flowing parts of the track, although our problems increase with the heat.”

As for the race, on the other hand, Zarco seems to have a rather clear idea about tyre choice.

“I think that the medium is the best solution – he said – both front and rear. Obviously, I’ll need to see the track conditions. The soft is definitely not an option that will let me be as fast as I want to be.”
