The final standings tell the story of an eleventh place time, but in Danilo Petrucci’s case, it is not entirely telling. In fact, the Italian is pleased with his first day, despite the final position. Until a few minutes from the end I was ahead on a track that is not one of our favourites. I am not happy with the fact that I’ll have to take a leap forward tomorrow to get into the top ten and, considering the fact that in the morning the track will be faster, a lot of riders will improve, but we are not far off.”

Petrux was limited in particular by a technical problem.

“A sensor broke, so the bike no longer recognised where it was on the track. I tried to go back to the garage quickly, but there were two minutes left, so I wasn’t able to put on the tyre for the time attack.”

Overall, Danilo is not losing confidence and he promises a fight.

“From this morning to this afternoon, I felt much more dialled in and I am happy about that. Crutchlow’s Honda and the factory Hondas are much faster than us, and even the Suzukis are strong with used tyres. The situation is not bad anyway. Compared to the last two races, there is more grip and the tyres are softer. We can and we must do better than the previous races.”
