SBK, Successful wrist surgery for Anthony West

SBK: Successful wrist surgery for Anthony West

The bad crash that occurred during Supersport free practice at Assen left Anthony West's Kawasaki lying in the run-off area while the rider was seen holding his right wrist. A real pity considering the great races he had completed at the track, in both MotoGP and SBK, in the past.

For the Australian, his fractured wrist meant two things: retirement from the Dutch race and a trip to Barcelona, where a medical team at the USP hospital has now operated on him.

Surgery has gone well, with Doctor Xavier Mir taking care of West. Two screws have been inserted in his wrist to fix the distal radius fracture.

Having left hospital, the Australian will rest for 24 hours before beginning with his rehabilitation programme, with the aim of returning to the track at Imola for the next round: “I'm feeling confident, because I can already move my fingers. I'm not in pain and think I'll be ready to race in Italy”.
