When Pedrosa crashes, he almost always gets hurt.

It also happened in Argentina: after the contact with Zarco, Dani lost control of his Honda RCV and hit the Termas asphalt hard, fracturing his right radius and undergoing surgery last week in Barcelona.

Today the team Repsol Spaniard had to first see how the wrist itself would work. The Austin track, with its ups and downs and hard braking sections approached at over 330 kph, dropping to low speeds, put even the riders in top form to a hard test, say nothing about someone coming from this type of injury:In fact, it was a very tough day today – Dani admits – and physically I suffered a lot. All told, I am happy with the work we did today because we were able to take some steps forward in terms of speed and race pace, which was better than I had expected. This is very positive for me and for my team.”

Practice is one thing, but the Grand Prix is something else, with all the difficulties that arise during the battles. Dani knows that it will be hard for him.

My hand is swollen now – number 26 explains – because in the afternoon I pushed a lot. I had to do it, looking for an acceptable pace, to see if it makes sense to race on Sunday. Now we will need to monitor the inflammation of my wrist, the pain and the swelling. If it doesn’t swell up again tomorrow, for me that will be a truly positive result.”

If you had to race today, would you try?

“Right now I wouldn’t be able to say how it would go. I would have to try to turn a lot of laps to check my condition, because the Grand Prix is long and hard here but… yes, right now I would try to race.”
