As per tradition, the Qatar night race will raise the curtain on the World Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Championship. It is a round that will put the tyres to a hard test, called on to tackle the dropping temperatures as day turns to night. However, this unknown does not seem to worry Piero Taramasso: “Losail is a track with a very abrasive surface – the Michelin manager remarked – The last tests proved to be particularly useful because we already know what to expect, therefore our tyres will be able to handle any weather conditions.”

In view of the upcoming season, the French manufacturer will announce the solutions for the entire championship to the teams and riders ahead of time: “Our job is to constantly search for stability – Taramasso advised – By announcing our choices, the teams will be able to plan their work, turning up to the race weekend already prepared.” Therefore, there is no lack of confidence showing on the Michelin manager’s face: “The winter tests allowed us to take some more steps forward – he pointed out – Starting from Sepang, we tested two new solutions on the front that will be used throughout the season.”

For the Qatar round, Michelin will bring soft, medium and hard compounds for the front and the rear. The rear tyres will have an asymmetrical design with a hard part on the right side in relation to the track layout. In the event of rain, of course there will be rain tyres. In fact, there will be soft (blue stripe) and medium (no stripe) solutions for both front and rear, the latter with an asymmetrical design.
