MotoGP, Vinales: this M1 cannot be compared with that of one year ago

Maverick Vinales is disheartened at the end of day two of testing at Losail. The Spaniard has to settle for seventh place, almost half a second from the front. With respect to one year ago, when the M1 was flying in the desert, the difficulties today are clear. He has no intention of throwing in the towel though, despite the obstacles.

“It's been a positive day– starts the Yamaha rider – I was able to test many things, evaluating many aspects. We lost a little grip today compared to yesterday sadly, so we need to work on our pace, trying to take a step forward in terms of performance”.

Vinales doesn't hide his disappointment.

“Unfortuantely we're struggling in acceleration, and the tyre tends to spin. I have the same sensations as I did at Buriram and Sepang. we need to try and improve in all areas and tomorrow I'll continue with the work”.

And to think that the M1 was unstoppable a year ago.

“The bike we have now can't be compared with that of 2017 , we need to try and be more competitive with the rear tyre and also with the electronics, particularly over long distance. I know we have very little time before the first race, so I'll continue to push on and work hard”.
