SBK, Pedercini and Ruiu together in Superstock 1000

Team Grillini's problems are not stopping Gabriele, who has come to an agreement with Pedercini. Team manager Lucio: "this is a real challenge"

SBK: Pedercini and Ruiu together in Superstock 1000

Gabriele Ruiu's racing season was meant to officially get underway at Donington, as soon as he reaches eighteen years of age. The intention was for Gabriele to replace Christian Gamarino on the second Suzuki GSX-R 1000, alongside Roberto Rolfo; but the legal problems involving team owner Andrea have forced the squad to back out, leaving the three riders without a seat for 2018.

Gabriele has nevertheless found a way to compete on the international stage: the agreement made with the Pedercini Kawasaki team will see the young Italian taking part in the Superstock 1000 category that, like every year, runs alongside the European rounds of the Superbike class.

“Up until a short time ago, I wasn't thinking about running a bike in Superstock - reveals Lucio – in fact, I'd let Guarnoni go. But I saw great potential in Ruiu. This is a fresh challenge: he's 17 and will turn 18 in May. Together we have made this agreement, viewing it as a real challenge. As soon as Superbike gets underway we'll also focus on the Stock ZX0RR, so that Ruiu can have a competitive bike in what will be a season of growth for an interesting and fast rider like him”.

The team also confirms that Colombian rider Yonny Hernandez will be staying put. After testing the Tech3 Yamaha at Sepang, the French team has called upon Malaysian rider Syahrin, essentially solving a problem for Hernandez and Pedercini, who had already signed a contract together.
