2017 is clearly set to be the year of new things in the world of Superbike. There's the inverted Race 2 grid, the birth of the SuperSport300 championship, returning riders, rookies and even a touch of femininity. As the new category launches, we'll also see Anna Carrasco and Avalon Biddle taking part.
The Spanish rider, who comes from Murcia, will take to the track with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 of team ETG Racing, while the New Zealander will be flying the flag for the Sourz Foods-Benjan Racing team. It's not the first time that two women will be present in the production-derived paddock. Melissa Paris was the first woman to compete in the Supersport World Championship as a wildcard at Miller Motorsport Park in Utah.
The following year it was Paola Cazzola's turn, she competed in five Supersport rounds. The italian was even able to score points, the only woman in history to do so. Expectations are high for Anna Carrasco and Avalon Biddle. Their first real test bench will come at Aragon, over the weekend of 1-2 April.
