Tomorrow Marco Simoncelli would have turned 30, though fate had other plans for him. The memory of Sic lives on in the hearts and minds of so many fans and Valentino Rossi, in Madrid for the presentation of the new Yamaha season, also wanted to remember him.

Thirty? It's a bit strange because I remember him so young” he said, before thinking back.

My best memories of Sic are those linked to everyday life - he recalls - when we'd train together on the bikes or in the gym, but particularly when we'd go drifting in our cars. I never trusted being in the passenger seat when he was driving, so he'd get in with me and after a while he'd ask to swap over, but I always got out!”.

Valentino concluded by laughing at the memory. Then, after a second, “we miss him so much”.
