The growth process continues in full swing for KTM and on the starting grid at Phillip Island both of their riders can boast a spot in the top ten. Taking the best result was Pol Espargaró who skilfully rode his RC16 to sixth place. “It is truly incredible –Polyccio commented – Since we have had two excellent days so far - probably some of the best days of the year. We were in the top ten for every free practice session, managing to stay in the top five in two of them and that is something that gave us a great boost of confidence.”

Pol’s positive attitude is tangible, even when he is talking about his bike.

“I had fun riding the bike, despite the fact that the wind makes direction changes an unknown. We are really doing an outstanding job. The guys are developing a good bike and we should be proud of what we’ve done today since we can see the results of the tests done in Aragón last month.”

Obviously, Bradley Smith can also not help but smile, taking a ninth place that is very helpful for his morale.

“Today is a great day for the team. I started Q1 with a few drops of rain, but I managed to go through to Q2, improving gradually. The team did a fabulous job and I am really happy about our first time going through to Q2 on a dry track after the wet rounds in France, Germany and Japan.”

Now to finish the weekend respectably. “All that’s left is to analyse some data in order to try to give it our all on this glorious track.”
