MotoGP: Viñales: "I'll need to be fast in any conditions"

The evidence is not to be underestimated, because Maverick Viñales is ready to get into the battle with Andrea Dovizioso and Marc Marquez. His Yamaha is flying at Misano and pole position o Saturday confirms the competitiveness of the Spanish rider who has no intention of giving up on the top step of the podium on the Rimini Riviera. There is no doubt: in that test in August, the M1 was reborn.

However, Viñales prefers to think about the present.

I knew that if I rode well I would be able to achieve this result in qualifying – the Spaniard said – At Silverstone I was also able to be competitive, but today I took a step forward.”

The turning point came this morning.

“In FP3 I worked well with the tyres – he recalled – whereas in the next session I focused on the hard tyre, especially thinking about the race finale. I am satisfied with what I’ve done – he added – Plus, tomorrow we’ll have the warm up to improve.”

As for the weather conditions on Sunday, the Yamaha rider has some clear ideas.

“Let’s hope it’s dry – he said without mincing words – We will need to be fast in any conditions.”

The battle for the title is heating up, but nothing seems to intimidate him.

I’ll go on the track with the same approach as always, trying to be fast – he revealed – Nothing will change. Whoever chooses the best tyre option will make the difference.”

Getting back to the weather, Maverick adds.

If it rains tomorrow we’ll try the new electronics – he confirmed – As I already said, I hope to be competitive even with the water.”
