MotoGP, Petrucci: with the rain I wouldn't have much to lose

After the first place he finished the day with yesterday, Danilo Petrucci was aiming high for the Misano qualifiers. Instead, the Pramac rider met with more difficulty than expected and finished in 8th place.

“The goal was the front row and I missed it by a tenth, but to be honest I expected more - he admits - Yesterday I did not feel perfect in the saddle, but I had been fast. Today, on the other hand, I struggled more. I’m half satisfied.”

Why?
“The wind bothered me, especially on the fastest turns. We tried a lot of different things, but not many worked.”

Is the podium tomorrow a pipe dream?
“At the moment it’s difficult. Dovizioso, Marquez and Viñales have something extra and I think that Lorenzo and Pedrosa are faster. Finishing in the top 6 would be fine. The difference will be made by whoever manages the tyres better and I am satisfied with the progress made in that area.”

And if it rains…
“It would be another problem, but it would be bigger for the Championship title contenders. I would have much less to lose and I would certainly have a go.”

Yesterday you had a fever. How do you feel today?
“Better. I was able to sleep and after a few laps I was lacking a bit of concentration, but from a physical point of view, thanks to my training, I am fine. In any case, I think that I will be even better tomorrow.”
