MotoGP, Pernat: Dovizioso, coldness wins out over ingenuity

"Marquez? I wouldn't be surprised if we see him on a KTM in 2019, it's time Yamaha did something"

MotoGP: Pernat: Dovizioso, coldness wins out over ingenuity

The Austrian Grand Prix proved to be a real spectacle, particularly the battle between Dovizioso and Marquez, with the Italian winning the head to head fight. The Ducati rider is back in the title mix, while the Yamaha Factory is struggling, beaten by Zarco on the satellite bike, who crossed the line before the M1s of Vinales and Rossi.

Here is Carlo Pernat's take on the latest race.

I would call it the GP where coldness won out over ingenuity – commented the Italian manager - this time Dovizioso's coldness got the better of Marquez's ingenuity. In that last corner Andrea just said to Marc: “what do you want"Ducati has done an exceptional job – he continued - I'm talking about Dall’Igna, but especially Dovi who represents the leader, this time he scored 11 out of 10. He's always prepared and can fight for the title”.

A mention too for Lorenzo: “Jorge is taking steps forward – he stated - but he has to understand one thing, that with this bike he cannot relax for even 1-2 laps, unlike with the Yamaha. Once he understands this, he can fight against the best”.

Despite his second place finish, Marquez has shown once again that he has absolutely no intention of settling: “Marc is stratospheric in all conditions – he underlined - beyond Dovizioso, the championship may be over before Valencia. I wouldn't be surprised to see KTM making Marc a mega offer for 2019, with Red Bull support-  he added -it could be a great opportunity for him”.

Finally those who failed the Red Bull Ring test: “The last three GPs have been bad for Yamaha – concluded Pernat – there are many black clouds and numerous problems in terms of tyre adaptation. If they don't do something, they risk losing the title. Suzuki meanwhile doesn't seem to have any way out, they need to work ahead of 2018”.
