MotoGP, Rossi: new fairing? the M1 is like Goldrake's bike

"I like it and it helps, but I don't think it's the best solution for Austria". Vinales sees it differently: "it could be useful at the Red Bull Ring"

MotoGP: Rossi: new fairing? the M1 is like Goldrake's bike

There is just one doubt in Rossi's garage at the end of Monday at Brno - when was the last time Valentino didn't set the best time during a test session?  “We're trying to work it out, we think it was in 2008 but we're not sure” laughs the Italian.

I'm pleased though it doesn't count for anything” he adds, also because he had material to test and has got the answers he was looking for. Starting with the new fairing.

It looks great, right? Now it's like riding Goldrake's bike - he laughs - Aside from that, I don't just like the aesthetics. You feel that you have more load at the front, in one way the M1 becomes easier to ride and help to limit wheelieing”.

Valentino still has doubts though....

“The Red Bull Ring might not be the right track to use it, because maximum speed is important there and with this solution we lose a little’” he explains.

The Doctor's is not only pleased with the fairing though.

I had a few things to test, details, but they have helped me improve -he continues - Like the forks with the carbon stems, making the bike lighter through the changes of direction. We've been able to solve the corner entry issues that we were suffering at the start of the season. I was competitive today, like I was over the weekend, then in the last 5 minutes that soft tyre was still there and I completed a sort of qualifying”, with the standard fairing and the new forks.

Now he just needs to iron out the flag-to-flag strategy.

"We've talked about it and need to work out how to improve further - he states - I rewatched the race on TV and a certain point Marquez slowed down before coming in, I don't know if he was struggling with the rear tyre or if he did on purpose, that wouldn't surprise me, he's a sly fox. The others were lucky, following Lorenzo who stopped to change bike".

VINALES: WE'VE SOLVED MANY PROBLEMS - Vinales also leaves Brno satisfied. He too tested the new fairing, albeit more briefly. His sensations were nevertheless good.

We worked to prepare for the Austrian GP; where having good acceleration is important and the new fairing helps in that sense - he comments - I think it can help us there, less so here at Brno".

He wasn't fully convinced by the carbon forks.

They are lighter but I don't know if that's what we're looking for, I'll test them again in Austria - he explains - Anyway, we've had a great test, I've regained a little of the confidence that I had earlier this season and today, with a race set-up, I was fast. i can say that we've resolved many problems”.

Neither he nor Rossi tested the new tyres brought by Michelin.
