MotoGP: Vinales: a terrible qualifying, the worst with the M1

Yesterday's issues continue and tomorrow Vinales will be forced to line up on row three of the grid while his direct rivals start up front. A cold shower for the Spaniard, particularly considering that Valentino, on the same bike, only just missed out on pole position.

That's a positive as it means the M1 works at this track and I can use that information - he comments - I'll definitely look at Rossi's data this evening, it might be useful to test a set-up similar to his in tomorrow's warm up. Valentino today, of all the Yamaha riders, was the only one to improve”.

Something Maverick was unable to do.

I have the same problems as yesterday and am struggling in braking and mid-corner, I arrive long and so it's impossible to complete a fast lap even if I'm doing a little better in terms of  race pace - he explains - I had a terrible qualifying, the worst I've had since coming to Yamaha, I had no confidence”.

He needs to decide what to do next.

There's a lot to do and little time, with only warm-up left - he reflects - We have work to do tonight, in the end it's a matter of set-up and can be solved. We need to get the bike and tyres working well at this track”.

To find his way again, having perhaps got a little lost.

It's down to us, but with the frame, swing-arm and new tyres it's normal to get a bit lost - he admits - Anyway, I'll set out to do my best tomorrow, aiming for the win, in this second part of the season we need to try and not drop below 3rd place in terms of race result. I'd prefer a dry race, but all in all I was also competitive in the wet yesterday”.

Maverick and his team have a long night ahead of them.
