SBK: Max Biaggi has successful lung surgery

Max Biaggi remains at the San Camillo hospital in Rome after the accident he had while training with the Supermotard at the Sagittario track in Italy on 9 June.

The six-time world champion fractured 11 ribs and his right collarbone in the crash.

Victim also of a pneumothorax, Max underwent thoracic drainage, before being taken to intensive care, where he remains now, twelve days after the incident.

Conscious and in fairly good humour, though tired, considering the seriousness of the crash, Max underwent scheduled surgery lung yesterday as a way to speed up his recovery.

At his side are his girlfriend, singer Bianza Atzei, father Pietro and Riccardo Giajvia, team manager of the Mahindra CIV squad that Biaggi has been managing since the start of the year.
