MotoGP: Rossi shoots down the Thai GP: a boring track

The announcement regarding the Thai Grand Prix, at Buriram, has given rise to a lot of discussions at Barcelona. Another race in south-east Asia had been on the cards for years, but the choice of the Chang Circuit, where the SBK has raced for several seasons, hasn't exactly gone down well with personnel.

Without considering the fact that the calendar may increase to 19 races, another thing for some to turn their noses up about.

The riders were asked for their opinions and the first to shoot down the selection was Valentino.

I think that 18 GPs is already a good number, going up to 19 wouldn't make a big difference but I'd be happier if that didn't happen - stated Rossi - Also, I went to Buriram for a Yamaha event a couple of years ago and it's a boring track, with just a few turns and a long straight and that's it. The location isn't great either, miles from anywhere”.

His colleagues were more diplomatic, starting with Vinales.

The more races there are, the harder it all become, also because you can't be in perfect shape for more than 6 or 7 months- he reflects - I like to go to new places though and understand that having more GPs increases the show”.

Marquez more or less agrees.

Doing 18 races per year is already a lot, I think that 20 would be the limit for riders - said Marc - But I like going to race at new tracks”.
