MotoGP, Iannone: I lost 3 Kg in 3 days, I'm knackered

"Impossible to do 4 laps in a row. The Suzuki does well at Mugello though, we are starting with the best base of the season"

MotoGP: Iannone: I lost 3 Kg in 3 days, I'm knackered

It only takes one look at Iannone’s face to understand his physical troubles: white as a sheet, his suffering is evident. He already had to leave the press conference yesterday because of his conditions. Today he gritted his teeth and got on his bike and all told it did not go badly either: 8th place in the afternoon and out of the top 10 in the combined standings by just 60 thousandths.

I’m knackered. I lost 3 kilos in 3 days - he explained - I thought I just had a simple intestinal virus. I have not felt well since the beginning of the week, but not even the doctors can figure out what is wrong.

Riding in these conditions is an undertaking.

I do 3 or 4 laps and I have to stop. My mouth is completely dry and I am dehydrated - he continued - Riding makes me very tired, but there is no solution. If I take supplements or vitamins, I feel even worse. I can only hope for improvement over the coming days.

A real pity, because the Suzuki is doing better at Mugello than it did in recent races.

I think that here the starting base is the best of the entire season - Andrea said - We expected to do better on this track because there are no really demanding braking sections, which is where we have the most. Plus, our bike is very fast in corners and it is very agile, which are both important aspects at Mugello.

Now Iannone simply needs to rest before continuing his work tomorrow.

I need to find more grip and then we’ll see”, he concludes.
