SBK: Sofuoglu renews with Puccetti for 2018

Having missed the first two rounds of the season before crashing on his return at Aragon, Kenan Sofuoglu then turned things around... From Assen to Donington, the Turkish rider has been flying with the Ninja of team Puccetti, dominating and winning three races in a row.

And it is with the same Italian team that the five-time Supersport world champion has decided to renew his contract for the 2018 season: the relationship between Kenan and the factory team in the intermediate class has resulted, up until now, in two riders' titles and a third firmly in Kenan's sights: “first I want to thank Kawasaki - states a satisfied Sofuoglu- because they see me as a rider of the brand and want me to win again with the ZX-6R. I'm pleased to be able to count on team Puccetti, they know how to best prepare the bike for me, a bike that is always competitive, and I know we will improve further together”.

Team manager Manuel Puccetti is pleased about Sofuoglu's renewal: “after having won two championships together, we're now working towards a third consecutive title -  comments Manuel- I'm really pleased we've signed the contract and with the work Kenan is doing with the Turkish federation to train young riders that can move up, like Razgatlioglu and Cabuk, to cite just two examples”.

What's your 2018 line up looking like?

“Our aim is to have only one Supersport rider, Kenan obviously. Then, in Superbike, we're working to have two riders. We'll assess the situation with Krummenacher after Laguna Seca and then we need a couple of months with regard to Leon Haslam as we need to find the budget to be able to seal a deal for 2018. We'll definitely have two ZX10RR bikes on track in the top class next year”.
