MotoGP: Pernat: "Rossi like Marquez, didn't know how to settle"

Maverick Vinales and the Yamaha took to the throne in France, while Rossi and Marquez crashed as if it were Waterloo. At Le Mans there was also time to enjoy Johann Zarco's first podium in the reigning class, alongside Dani Pedrosa. Let's not forget the Ducatis, too far from the front, and Andrea Iannone, who closed tenth, failing to meet with expectation.

Here's what went on at the “Bugatti Circuit” according to our very own Carlo Pernat.

Let's start from the end. Who could have imagined Rossi would crash?

“Valentino did a Marquez, because he crashed in the wrong moment, when he should instead have settled. Perhaps he wanted to score win number 500 for Yamaha, as he did for Honda in the past. If he's considered the championship, a second place was worth gold”.

Marc also crashed.

“Marquez is back to his old ways, a rider who doesn't usually settle and goes over the limit, throwing away points. This is his second zero of the season, too many in five races I'd say. You need to be consistent to win, like Vinales”.

Maverick was infallible.

“He did a Valentino, because at a certain point he even considered settling.”

Zarco didn't do badly, a well-deserved podium.

“Johann is a top rider. Le Mans was the most important GP of his career, especially if we consider the pressure of the home crowd. This race served to give him that knowledge, that he can always fight for the podium”.

Another thing. Ducati fourth across the line but…

A bit far back. There was the podium at Jerez, but the gap from the front was too great. Ducati's reference point is Dovizioso, there's no denying it, seeing as he always gets the best out of the bike".

Lastly, Iannone. There seems to be no solution for The Maniac.

“I think it's a bad marriage, perhaps the right chemistry is missing. The bike needs to be sorted out, let's hope that tyre number 70 brings something positive for Andrea at Mugello. In changing teams, neither Lorenzo nor Iannone have gained.”
