The Le Mans Sunday is one that left a bitter taste in Andrea Iannone’s mouth. In fact, the Italian rider’s face is the emblem of the critical moment he is facing astride his Suzuki. In France he had to settle for a tenth place finish that does not reflect his ambitions.

How would you assess this Grand Prix?

“It was undoubtedly a difficult weekend, but we do not have the least intention of giving up. We are a strong group and there is great desire to improve for the upcoming races. In every race I have always managed to be faster than last year, but it is not enough. I need to do more, because my rivals have also taken steps forward.”

You struggled again today.

“When I push too hard I risk crashing and for me it was fundamental to finish the race and collect points today. Obviously finishing tenth does not give me any great joy, but I want to stay optimistic for the future.”

What is the most critical aspect?

It was very difficult to reduce speed going into corners, plus in the first part of the track I struggled in acceleration. The important thing is to understand this situation well. The front is certainly the most critical aspect, especially going into turns.”

With this Suzuki overtaking seems to be very complicated.

It is difficult to overtake because I do not feel fast and I am struggling with grip. The next race will be at Mugello. I hope we are more competitive.”
