Moto3: Canet just takes it from Fenati

At Austin, Aron Canet's perfect weekend came to an end during the race when a crash saw the Spaniard's dreams of glory go up in smoke. The Estrella Galicia rider didn't let that bother him though and has immediately made up for it Jerez. In what became a race of a thousand passes, Canet was able to cross the line first after getting past Romano Fenati at the last turn, with the Italian coming home in second.

The podium was rounded out by Joan Mir who, despite starting ninth, soon found himself fighting for the title, taking third place to retain his championship lead. The surprise of the day came in the shape of Marcos Ramirez, riding for team Platinum Bay, who powered the first of the KTMs to fourth place after a heartfelt, aggressive performance. A different outcome for his team-mate Darryn Binder, who was also in the mix but crashed mid-race at turn 13.

Back to the race result, and in fifth place was Fabio Di Giannantonio, who recovered well from eleventh on the grid, though not enough to battle for a podium position; the same goes for Andrea Migno, sixth across the line. His team-mate Nicolò Bulega followed right behind, seventh ahead of Enea Bastianini, who shows improvement with this eighth place finish. Poleman Martin only manages ninth place, ahead of Guevara.
