MotoGP, Pedrosa is Honda leader at Jerez, Rossi and Marquez 12th and 14th

But Marc didn't use the new tyre unlike #46, Miller second, then Crutchlow, Lorenzo, Petrucci, Dovizioso 8th

MotoGP: Pedrosa is Honda leader at Jerez, Rossi and Marquez 12th and 14th

The weather finally gave it a rest at Jerez. The sun was shining this afternoon for the second MotoGP session, despite a few ominous looking cloud. And the Honda of Daniel Pedrosa continued to shine on track. Conditions might have been different, but the Spaniard retained his position at the front, setting a best of 1’39”420. The Spaniard flexed his muscles, closing more than half a second ahead of Jack Miller (+0.544), again up in the positions that count. They were the only able to duck under 1’40, ahead of Cal Crutchlow, third, 0.081 of a second from the Australian.

It's strange to see Marc Marquez down in fourteenth place, almost a second and a half behind his team-mate (+1.495). Don't take too much notice of the stopwatch though, as the Spaniard didn't use a fresh tyre in the final stages, working instead on his race pace.

Standing out in fourth place is the Ducati of Jorge Lorenzo (+0.871) with the new tyre. Despite being eight tenths from the front, the Spaniard is showing important signs of growth and confidence with the red bike, with Dovizioso two tenths behind him. A first in FP2.

Right up behind the Majorcan's GP17 is that of Petrucci (+0.958), one thousandth quicker than Vinales, sixth. The Spaniard crashed in the early stages, at turn nine, as did Aleix Espargarò and the Aprilia (9th, +1.059).

It's not just Marquez out of the top ten. The same goes for Valentino Rossi (+1.278). Despite the new tyre used in the final stages, the Doctor has to settle for twelfth place, followed by Folger and the five-time champion, then Zarco and Iannone on the Suzuki.
