MotoGP, Iannone: Austin? A challenge that invigorates me

The Maniac: "Not a very favourable track for the Suzuki, but the bike is improving", Rins: "We will have fun on this track"

MotoGP: Iannone: Austin? A challenge that invigorates me

It certainly is not the season start that Andrea Iannone had in mind. In Losail the rider from Vasto was forced to throw in the towel because of a crash and then in Argentina he had to settle for sixteenth place after being penalized with a ride through. At the moment, he is stuck at zero points in the Championship.

However, the Maniac prefers to stay optimistic: “The season start was not very positive in terms of results – he commented – It may be true that we have not earned any points either, but our performance has improved constantly over the last few months and the sensations we are getting from the work we are doing are excellent.”

The Texan circuit certainly is not the best suited for the Suzuki’s characteristics: “This track cannot be considered one of the most favourable for our bike – he revealed – We will need to work hard in order to adapt to any type of track. This is definitely a challenge that invigorates me and I am confident that I have the right support from the team”.

In the Suzuki camp, Texas holds fond memories for Alex Rins. On no less than two occasions, the Spaniard has managed to leave his mark: “I won in both Moto3 and Moto2 – he points out - the track is very wide, plus the corners make it fun to ride.”

There is one aspect that the rookie emphasizes: “The asphalt has good grip – he revealed – I think this is positive because it allows for high performance, but at the same time it is an unknown in terms of tyre wear. In any case, I hope to be able to exploit the full potential of my GSX-RR – he concluded – Among other things, the fans here always give us a warm welcome and it is one of the most pleasant weekends.”
