MotoGP: Vinales takes the warm up, Rossi 12th

Riders in the reigning class are sharpening their weapons ahead of the race, but not in ideal conditions. Maverick Vinales shows his potential, proving to be the fastest of all. His 1’39”620 is in line with the times set during Friday's practices. He's back in the role of protagonist after the difficulties of qualifying which left him more than a second and a half from Marquez.

Honda's #93 made the most of this last chance to close the gap to his fellow countryman, closing just over a tenth behind him (+0.115). He also worked on his pace.

The five-time champion closed just 0.067 ahead of the Honda of Crutchlow, who carried out a bike comparison test. Hot on his heels are the satellite Ducatis of Bautista and Redding, within just 0.096 of a second. Andrea Iannone (+0.396) closes sixth, dealing with a front tyre that has caused him various problems over the weekend. For The Maniac there was also time for a thrilling head to head with Valentino Rossi, as if it were already race time.

The Doctor focused on using new tyres, and in the end has opted for the first bike. At the end of the session he was twelfth, more than seven tenths from the front (+0.745), preceded by the GP17 of Petrucci (+0.668) and the M1 of Zarco (+0.688). There is also space for Pedrosa in the top ten, eighth behind the Aprilia of Aleix Espargarò.

The factory Ducatis are still in trouble. Despite a lower seat, Jorge Lorenzo settles for fifteenth, almost one second from the front (+0.927). Just behind is Andrea Dovizioso (+0.941), then Miller, who suffered a crash though without physical consequences. The same applies to Karel Abraham, who will start from second on the grid. The Czech rider finished warm-up in 22nd place.
