MotoGP, Iannone: Unfair penalty, applying the old regulation

The Maniac explains: “I don't understand the ride through, I didn't gain any positions or move out of my box on the grid”

MotoGP: Iannone: Unfair penalty, applying the old regulation

He was hoping to make up for things after the Losail crash, but instead Andrea Iannone leaves Argentina disappointed. An uphill race for The Maniac, hit by Lorenzo at the start and then forced to take a ride through for a jump start. He finished the race in sixteenth place.

Let's start with the ride through. How do you see it?

“I have quite clear ideas, I definitely don't agree because the regulation has changed with respect to last year. if a rider moves without gaining a position, I don't understand why he's given a ride through. Also, Lorenzo hit me, I was in 17th position, what's the reason behind this penalty”?

A disappointing Sunday.

“It was another bad day. A pity, because after the warm-up I was competitive and confident, I had the pace to fight for the top five, but it didn't go as I'd hoped”.

What don't you like about the decision?

“They applied a regulation that no longer exists, or rather if you move on the grid, it's a jump start. Since it's been changed, the marshals have chance to evaluate it but I was given the penalty right away”.

You're actually not wrong.

“I repeat, I didn't go on the red light. I just moved without going outside my box. After shifting into first I moved a little, it was basically the fork that moved. But if I didn't gain positions, why the penalty?”

 Another Sunday to forget.

“l wanted to bring home some points, instead I finish with a terrible result. Unfortunately the championship hasn't started in the best way. I'll try to get things back on track, and know it will take patience. We have what we need to be able to catch up”.
