Rinaldi snatches the first win of the year ahead of Marino and Tamburini.

SBK: STK1000: first win for Rinaldi, Tamburini 3rd

You never forget your first time. This phrase is often used, and in Michael Ruben Rinaldi's case it's probably true. The Italian was very emotional as he arrived in parc fermé, having started the race from pole and dominating it from start to finish. The only rider who came close to putting up a fight against Rinaldi was Chilean Scheib, who crashed out mid-race, throwing away a potential second-place finish.

It was Florian Marino who actually crossed the line second, while Pata Yamaha rider Roberto Tamburini closed in third. The latter played catch-up, gradually closing the gap to Razgatlioglu and just edging past him before the line. The Turk closed fourth, followed by Marco Faccani, Jeremy Guarnoni and Luca Vitali, who brought the only Aprilia of team Nuova M2 across the line. Ninth for Mike Jones, who made a mistake at the end of the long straight in the final stages while battling it out for the podium with Razgatlioglu and Tamburini.
