Moto3 has always given us breathtaking races and this first round of 2017 did not disappoint. If there was any doubt, the fact that no less than eight riders were podium contenders right down to the chequered flag is proof enough of what a thrilling race it was.
In fact, it was a Honda that finished first (the third consecutive win in this category in Qatar) ridden by Joan Mir, who thereby demonstrates that he did not win the 2016 rookie of the year title by chance. Second place went to John Mcphee, ahead of Gresini newcomer, Jorge Martin. Finishing fourth was Aron Canet, ahead of a long list of Italians.
In fact, Andrea Migno was fifth after a strong race that demonstrated his promising future, ahead of Romano Fenati, kept busy with the classic Moto3 duels, followed by Niccolò Antonelli, who appeared to be struggling just a bit, but was fast in any case, and Fabio Di Giannantonio, who skilfully caught up with the lead group after a less than perfect start. It was a race to forget for Niccolò Bulega: in fact, the team Sky talent paid the price for a bad start, unable then to close the gap that widened during the initial laps and finishing the race in 14th place ahead of the Suzuki, which gives team Sic58 its first historic point in the Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing championship.
