Davies: new format? it will be the same riders up front

Logically speaking, Chaz Davies, with his 11 race wins, stands to be most penalised by the new SBK regulation which will see a partial reversal of the race grid. The Ducati rider has commented about the new rule on Twitter, and doesn't hold back.

His first words are ironic: “I usually qualifying on the third row anyway so I'm not sure it will make much difference to me” he joked.

He goes on, with a caustic tone: “I don't mind the new format… I grew up kart racing where the fastest guys started at the bike. I thrive on that shit!”.

He also added “it penalises the fastest guys, but they will come to the front anyway. And you guys at home will get a better show for it”, concluding with the hashtag #EntertainmentBiz.

Chaz also answered a few questions. To the person who asks whether there's a risk of choosing a fourth place finish over third in order to start race 2 from pole, he says: “no chance. That's cutting off your nose to spite your face”.

One of his followers then raised a doubt as to whether this increases the risk, with slower riders ahead that need to be passed. “It's crossed my mind and has risks but that's the sport. Those 'slower' riders are race winners, world champs etc. it's not a track day!
