Valencia Test: red flag, Rins and Iannone crash

Two accidents in quick succession for the two Suzuki riders. Both crashed at turn 12 of the Valencia track. The first was Alex Rins who has been taken to hospital for further tests. The Spaniard is conscious and can move his arms and legs but complains of back pain. The decision was therefore taken to transfer him to Valencia hospital via ambulance.

A few minutes later, at around 11am, Iannone also crashed in the same place. The bike ended up beyond the crash barrier, outside of the track. Luckily, Andrea was unhurt in the incident and returned to the garage. Marshals stopped the session with a red flag.

The crashes were similar in dynamic to those of yesterday, with riders losing the front. As some of the riders stated yesterday, Rossi and Dovizioso included, Michelin has provided very few tyres for the test and only two soft front solutions. This forces riders to use hard tyres that are not suited to the morning's cold temperatures.

In terms of times, an hour into the day's test and Marc Marquez leads the way with a time of 1’30”629, the Honda rider is followed by Vinales, almost a second behind, then Crutchlow, Dovizioso, Aleix Epsargarò with the Aprilia, the two Ducatis of Lorenzo and Bautista, Miller, Folger and Smith rounding out the top ten.

Valentino Rossi is still in the garage
