The first day of tests in Valencia will end in three hours, at 5:00 pm sharp. The MotoGP riders are taking full advantage of this start to the 2017 season, both those testing evolutions of their own bikes and those who have switched camps or making a début.

At 2:00 pm, the standings reward stability and the top 4 positions are occupied by the riders who stayed on the same bike. Beginning with Valentino Rossi, (who also had a crash without consequences) one of the last to go out on the track, but at the top of the time sheets with 1’30”950. The Doctor found his 2017 M1 2017 in the garage as Marc Marquez, who found his updated RC213V, is in 2nd place, 0”152 behind the rider from Pesaro. Dovizioso is third, followed by Crutchlow, both around 2 tenths behind.

The first surprise was Andrea Iannone’s 5th best time as he started his relationship with Suzuki in the best possible way, just 0”215 behind Valentino. Maverick Viñales is also doing quite well astride his Yamaha, 6th with 0”284.

Behind the Spaniard on the sheets are Barbera, Pedrosa and Miller. Closing out the Top Ten is Jorge Lorenzo, making improvements astride his Ducati but still lagging a bit behind compared to the competition. The Majorcan is 0”625 behind the leader.

Redding has the eleventh best time ahead of Pirro and Aleix Espargarò, the latter making his début - positive for the moment - with Aprilia. His brother, Pol, astride the KTM for the first time, is lying 16th with 1”663.

The best rookie coming up from Moto2 is Folger who is in 18th on his Tech3 Yamaha with a time of 2”196 ahead of Zarco in 19th, whereas Rins is 22nd ahead of Lowes.
