Film on Joey Dunlop in the works

A film will tell the life story of Joey Dunlop, the British road racing legend who died while racing in Estonia in 2000 at 48 years of age. This is not the first time the champion has been the subject of the silver screen. Two years ago a documentary entitled “Road” was made, featuring the two brothers, Joey and Robert Dunlop and their two sons, Robert Michal and William, all riders.

Details are still unknown about the new film, currently in the production stage, but the Belfast Telegraph revealed that Martin McCann will be playing the 26-time Isle of Man TT winner.

The screenplay has been entrusted to Ronan Blaney, Oscar nominee last year, and it will focus on Dunlop’s obsession with racing.

At the moment, neither the title nor the release date of the film has been announced.
