It is no mystery that the Ducati GP14 is an excellent bike in the rain, but that alone is not enough. You also need to know how to ride it, and that is what Barbera and Baz have demonstrated so far, bringing home the best result yet for Avintia: a 4th and 5th place finish.
“I’m really happy because this fourth place is incredible - Hector celebrates, finishing ahead of his teammate - It is my best result in MotoGP ever and I really needed this result to get a boost of confidence and energy before my home race in Valencia. There is no doubt that this result came in the right moment”.
The Spaniard, after too unhappy races on the factory Ducati, rediscovered confidence on his bike and his team supported him to perfection.
“We are showing this season that with hard work, great efforts and huge passion you can achieve important things. Avintia is the best example of this, because we don’t have the resources of many teams, but we are world champions in passion,” he points out.
Loris Baz also needed a good performance to help him forget his recent disappointments.
“Before the race I was praying for rain - he confessed - because the last three weeks have been really tough for me. After this weekend, we go back home with a big smile on our faces. This result is what we were looking for to get a boost of morale and work even harder. I enjoyed battling with Hector. Unfortunately, when the track began to dry out, my rear tyre was overheating, so this top-five finish is fantastic.”
