Marquez: curious to see how much faster we'll be at Sepang

With the title already in the bag, Marquez rode without thinking at Phillip Island. A tactic that proved to be perfect during practice and qualifying but less so in the race. Marc crashed after having already waved goodbye to his rivals, a real pity but one that takes nothing away from his season.

“In Australia we tried to do a great race, but although we ultimately weren’t successful, we always look at the positives - he comments - In this case, I once again learned something and I’ll be more careful in similar situations in the future. When you feel good and are really enjoying the riding, the extra confidence you feel isn’t easy to control, but we’ll try.

He will now have his first chance, as on Friday he'll be riding his Honda at Sepang.

"It's a track I know very well but when we came here for the winter test, we were still struggling to find our direction with bike set-up. Moreover, soon after that test, they completely resurfaced the track. Therefore, we must wait and see how we will be able to manage this weekend. I’m very curious about the track, to see how much smoother the surface is now and how much faster it will allow us to lap.”

Joining him in the garage will be Hiroshi Aoyama, standing in for Pedrosa. On Monday Dani went for a medical check-up and while the collarbone and tibia fractures are healing well, a third fracture has also been identified, to the fourth metatarsal of his left foot.

“I'm very glad to have the chance to ride the factory Honda again - says Aoyama, who has just celebrated his 35th birthday - In Japan it was a bit challenging to start Saturday morning from FP3, to adapt to the bike and to try and find my rhythm. I hope this time things will work out well and I can find a good feeling with the bike since the beginning. I wish Dani a speedy recovery.”
