MotoGP, Dovizioso: difficult to understand our rivals' level

"I'm fast but don't know if I can keep that up over race distance. Our aim is the podium but it won't be easy"

Dovizioso: difficult to understand our rivals' level

He missed out on the front row by less than a tenth, but Dovizioso shrugs it off. He's pleased with his qualifying time and the work completed so far this weekend, but tomorrow comes the important part.

I'm pleased with my time, I gave it my all - underlines Andrea - We've worked well this weekend and my speed is good”.

Despite the positive, he does have some doubts though.

When there are 5 or 6 riders within a tenth, like in FP4, anything can happen, though in the race I think the gaps will be greater - he reflects - In truth, it's not easy to understand our rivals' pace. Including Valentino who's on pole. From the outside it's hard to say whether he has an advantage that he's managed or whether he's simply able to make the most of the new tyres”.

Dovi is also unsure of his pace.

I know I'm fast, that's not what worries me, but i have to understand whether I can maintain the same pace for the whole race - he continues - There are two unknowns, rear tyre consumption and the energy you have to put into riding. This is a track with a lot of hard braking and acceleration, the bike moves around a lot”.

Having said that, Andrea remains positive.

We need to be positive, and I think I can fight for a good result. What kind of result? It will be hard to win, or even reach the podium, but the latter is our goal” he concludes.
