SBK, Giugliano: "if it rains I'll try to race"

Davies a cert on Friday at Magny-Cours: "We have the pace, we'll be ready even if it's wet"

Giugliano: "if it rains I'll try to race"

There are two sides to Friday at Magny-Cours for Ducati. On the one side, Chaz Davies has proved to be a sure thing, on the other side Davide Giugliano is having to deal with pain in his right shoulder, a result of his race 2 crash two weeks ago at the Lausitzring.

While the Brit is already thinking about the race, the Italian still needs to decide whether or not to head out on track tomorrow. The pain hasn't let up, leading him to visit the Clinica Mobile for treatment.

A disappointing Friday.

“To be honest, I didn't expect this problem. My shoulder was really hurting after the crash but, thanks to physiotherapy, I'd made a quick recovery”.

Then what happened?

“between FP1 and FP2  I got some treatment but, despite it providing some relief, the pain came back as soon as I got back on the bike and I decided with the team to stop temporarily”.

Your presence tomorrow is in doubt. How are you feeling?

In these conditions it's hard to be competitive in the dry, but if it were to rain I'd try to race. In any case, we'll decide tomorrow”.

With Giugliano in the garage, Davies is today's success story. After setting the best time in FP1, he repeated the feat in the afternoon, shaving further tenths of his time. It couldn't have gone better for the Welshman.

You've started out on the right foot.

“We were fastest in both sessions, so the overall balance is positive. This morning we made good progress working on the details, and during FP2 we found encouraging pace even with the used tyres”.

You also worked on the setting.

“In the final stages, we also worked on the set-up, making a change that wasn't helpful as it caused us to lose some grip through the long turns”.

Tomorrow there's a chance of rain, like in Germany.

“We've collected a lot of important data ahead of tomorrow, particularly because it might rain. We'll aim to be ready whatever the weather brings”.
