Moto3, Binder, second, wins world title at Aragon

Binder, second, wins world title at Aragon

The fourteenth race of the Moto3 season at Aragon offered up yet another fantastic battle today. After twenty scorching laps in which we lost count of the number of passes, it was Jorge Navarro who crossed the line first but at the same time, and more significantly, it was South African rider Brad Binder who lifted the world title.

KTM rider #41, competing with the Red Bull Ajo team, could have opted to keep out of trouble, settling for a good position and, perhaps, taking the title at one of the next events; but no, Brad is a real rider, tough but correct, fearless while showing just how much he enjoys his job and, with 5 race wins, he is more than deserving of this ultimate prize.

Things get serious after a world title win and now Binder is the third South African in history to have won a championship title, after Kork Ballington and Jon Ekerold:right now it doesn't seem real, in the race I lost the battle, but I've won the war”, he stated in parc fermé at the end of the race.

In 2017 Binder will be in Moto2, leaving a category that boasts a number of talented riders: Navarro today showed his strength, Bastianini has been a cert for a while now, and Di Giannantonio is the best rookie in the Moto3 class.

Classification: Binder 249, Navarro 143, Bastianini 139
