Moto3, Team Ongetta puts pressure on Fenati

Team manager Bedon: "we've made an offer, now we're awaiting his response before next week"

Team Ongetta puts pressure on Fenati

It's time for Romano Fenati to consider his future. As he already told us, he is “considering various offers for 2017, both in Moto2 and Moto3”. The most concrete, right now, comes from Team Ongetta Rivacold that had already come up with a plan to have the Italian race this season. While that opportunity went up in smoke, negotiations regarding a future collaboration are still in progress.

Team manager Stefano Bedon confirms this: “I think we were the first to make Romano an offer, a very interesting one I believe, from both an economic and technical point of view - he explains - We've also proposed he races in Moto3 next year to try and win the title”.

The team needs a top rider to replace Antonelli who should move to team Ajo and Fenati is certainly an interesting option. Romano must now decide whether to spend another year in his current category or move to Moto2. In this case, rumour has it that he's in contact with Team Gresini. The decision should be made soon.

I think we'll know by next week”, reveals Bedon.

It's looking less likely however that we'll see Fenati on track again this year. Team Ongetta tried to make an 'exchange' with the Sky VR46 team, that could have seen Antonelli riding for them in the final races but the plan didn't come together.

We can't run three bikes and have contracts to respect with our riders. "If we were to come to an agreement for next year, we could find a solution, but it's not easy”, concludes the team manager.
